Dont Look Back

Friday, July 8, 2016

I've heard it many times.
Katy Perry sings it in Teenage Dream, "Let's run away and
Don't ever look back".
Walk The Moon sings it in Shut Up And Dance, "Oh don't you dare look back.
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back,"
She said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
And I can't help but to be reminded of Genesis 19:26, where Lot and his wife are fleeing
Sodom and Gomorrah (an evil city) and they were told not to look back. Lots wife did however look back and she was turned into a pillar of salt.
Now, this sounds bizarre but I think I am learning something from this message of "not looking back".

For me, a lot of times I reflect, which don't get me wrong-is good, but not all the time. I think about the past so much and I analyze until I simply can't anymore. This little reminder is so good, not because I am going to literally turn into salt but because focusing on now is so important.
We can be so wrapped up living in the past or even in the future we forget to be fully present, so if you need this too, then don't look back!

Something about running away with a lover in each one of these and not looking back because what else is there? Only now. I love in Shut Up And Dance the next line is "keep your eyes on me" because it spoke to me and reminded me to not look back but to keep my eyes on God and he will guide me to where I need to go.

For some people God gives off a negative connotation, but don't let, again, the past define what you think of God today. He is here today, and every day and His love is new each day.

A Tribute to Loved Ones Who Have Flown Away

Monday, May 2, 2016

Hey Hey, it's been a while!
So much has happened since Christmas. A lot of fun, but also
a lot of real moments. Getting older it seems like death becomes more
and more prevalent. We must take it on because there is nothing else we can
do. Although we can't understand it, and don't have the words to say to our loved
ones experiencing great loss, we can join together and simply be there for one
another. When going through tough things whether it is you or someone close to you
we can look to God and know that when everything is spinning he is still.

A tribute to loved ones who have flown away :

Torie Costa, you were such a gift to everyone you met,
especially those you knew well. I know you are being so loved in
Heaven but we love you and miss you down here!

Janet McFadden, you created an amazing family
that will never be the same since you are gone.
They miss you, they love you and can't wait to see you
again some day soon.

Betsy Pugh, I didn't know you, but looking at all you created,
you are amazing and I hope to meet you in Heaven.
Your family and friends love you so much.

(These angels who have passed are not photographed here)
Rest in Peace and Thank You for all you did while on Earth <3

Moon & Palms Christmas

A moment of love
A dream
A laugh
A kiss
A cry
Our rights
Our wrongs

Won't stop 'til it's over
Won't stop to surrender

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing
Now the old king is dead long live the king
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
Missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you'd gone there was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world

It was a wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?
